CITRINE November Birthstone

November's birthstone is Citrine. The word come from an old French word, "citrin", meaning lemon. Citrine is one of the more rare forms of quartz, this gemstone ranges in color from the palest yellow to a dark amber named Madeira because of its resemblance to the red wine.


As in all gemstones, many people believe there are healing powers associated to them. Citrine is no exception. Citrine is said to dissolve negative energy of all kinds. It helps generate stability in all areas, and is good for general protection. It is said to help with mental clarity, relive depression, relieve self destructive behaviors and gain calm, strength and clarity.


Citrine is associated with the solar plexus chakra.

When a foreign substance (most often a parasite - not a grain of sand) are introduced within the oysters or mollusks Pearls are made. This foreign substance enters the soft mantle tissue and in resonse to the irritation the mantle's epithelial cells form a sac (known as a pearl sac) which secretes a crystalline substance called nacre, the same substance which makes up the interior of a mollusk's shell, which builds up in layers around the irritant, forming a pearl.
